BreakAway

Most states and provinces have adopted breakaway laws and regulations for increased roadway safety. The BRAKEbuddy breakaway system meets and exceeds breakaway regulatory requirements in the United States and Canada and offers you increased safety and comfort for unplanned emergencies.

In the event that your towed vehicle becomes detached from your tow bar or the motor coach completely, the breakaway system will immediately apply the brakes on your endangered towed vehicle and bring  it to a very rapid stop.

The Breakaway System simply plugs into the BRAKEbuddy using two plugs from a wiring harness fed  through the firewall of the towed vehicle. The wiring harness is attached to a small junction box that is mounted close to the grille near the tow bar. A steel cable plugs into the receptacle on the junction box and attaches to the coach along with the safety chains. If the towed vehicle becomes detached from the coach, the steel cable will stay with the coach and unplug from the junction box. The junction box then completes a circuit in the BRAKEbuddy and the air cylinder is activated. It applies the brake pedal in the towed vehicle bringing it to a safe stop. The BRAKEbuddy will continue to apply the brakes in the towed vehicle until the cable is plugged back into the junction box. You may install the Breakaway easily in an hour or less or, if you prefer, have it installed by your local mechanic or RV dealer.
